RE: Bigfoot levelers trouble shooting ?

Like what is mentioned in the prior post, the stuck metal rod to the limit switch is what I had problems with. A shot of lube on the metal rod did it for me. To test the switch disconnect the wires to the switch and use a ohm meter to check for closed contacts when the leveler is extended and open contacts when retracted, if I remember right it is the ground wire you are checking.

RE: What's the consensus on towing without toad brakes?

I think they will pay for the damage you caused while driving intoxicated, but they won't pay for your damaged vehicle.

RE: What's the consensus on towing without toad brakes?

I believe it relates to law abiding or unlawful use. If you are towing with out brakes and the state law requires it, you may not be covered by insurance.

RE: I35 through Iowa

Parts of I 35 have the drop off at the expansion joints, look at US 54 from Tucumcari to Liberal and then US 83 north to I70,I80 orI90 to your final route north. I took this route four times winter of 2006/2007 and was a great road. I would take this over I35 any day.

RE: US Route 2...fishin' and other stuff!

I have a 10 year old grandson that will fish from sun-up to sundown! End of July should be great for sunfish, bluegills and crappies for your 7 year old. Ask at any campgrounds you stay at for fishing spots for your son, he will have a blast.

RE: driving directions-Fort Myers, Fla., to Rochester, Minn.

We are in Ft Myers and will leave for Minnesota this weekend. We have a couple of different routes if the weather is looking bad in one of these areas. We will go to Birmingham, there is a rv park at a college in Hoover. As long as there isn't a game being played they have openings and it's all blacktop with full hook-ups and pull thru's. And then towards Memphis on 78 . South of memhpis at Horn Lake we go south to Tunica and stay at the Grand Casino or head north on I55 and stay at Caruthersville Mo. at the Avatar Casino. Full hook-ups, pull thru's. From Caruthersville Mo. we take I55 to I270 west side of St. Louis to I70 west. Then we either take US 61 north to a state park by Mt. Pleasant Ia. and north on US218 to Austin or go west on I70 to Kansas City I435 to I35 north and stop at Terrible s Casino at Osceola Ia. Full hook ups, pull thrus. And continue north on I35 to Minnesota then east on I90. We don't gamble much but a game of Texas Hold'em is always fun. I pull a silverado 4x4 four down behind a 38' GulfStream DP Scenic Cruiser. The other way we go from Florida is west on I10 to Bay St. Louise MS. and stay at the Hollywood Casino, full hook-ups. Then I 10 west toI55 and north to Tunica or Caruthersville Mo.

RE: US Route 2...fishin' and other stuff!

Check out www.exploreminnesota.com along hwy 2 you will be in the best fishing area in Minnesota. Cass Lake,Big Winnie, Leach Lake and many smaller lakes. We have a cabin on Bowstring Lake in the Chippewa National Forest and there a lot of resorts and campgrounds for fishing of docks and boat rentals. The big lakes have launch service for fishing. The Corp of Engineer parks around the Mississippi headwaters usually have a fishing pier or dock. I'll post some web sites on the thread for you to look at. What time of the summer would you be in Minnesota? Hwy 2 is a great route once you get to the western part of MN and heading west there is usually a city campground in the small towns, some are free and most are very reasonable.

RE: Highway 54--NM to Kansas

We took that route last spring and diesel stops all along the way. Small stations in small towns usually have a diesel island for big tucks and rv's. The worst part was dodging those tornadoes! They were all around us up to the Minnesota line and then 10 inches of snow on the day we got home to northern MN. It was great. Life's been good to me so far.

RE: Introducing ourselves! Is this mileage/time reasonable?

we can relate to the seasonal business in N. MN. We are building contractors and work hard all summer so we can head south in the winter. We are in Fort Myers Florida until the end of April. What part of north Texas are you heading to? We did that route last year and might have some suggestions if you are going to northwest Texas. Life's been good to me so far. The Eagles.

What to do with my $600?

Just thinking of a positive way to use the tax “rebate” to help stimulate our economy. What would you spend you rebate on to help? I am looking at spending on services provided by national, regional, or local businesses. The same for purchasing items from national, regional, or local businesses. Buying imported items made in countries other than the U.S.A., etc. may help us very little and paying off credit cards or putting it in a savings account is said to be of no help or stimulus to “our” economy. What are your ideas and advice? Try to keep this topic proactive, o.k. a little humor, so it won’t get shut down.

RE: Battery Boil Over?

I had this happen a couple of years ago. Turns out that one battery was defective. It would take a charge but wouldn't hold a charge so the charger was constantly charging to maintain it. The second battery would boil out because of the the constant charging required of the defective battery. I removed one battery and charge them separately to see what one was discharging. I almost purchased a new inverter before checking the batteries. I saved a lot of money!
